The Ann Richards School is a public, all-girls school in Austin, Texas, focused on college readiness, leadership, and STEM education. A majority of our students come from a low-income background, and many will be the first in their family to attend college.
A small group of our students has the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic (D.R.) this summer, where they will attend a weeklong leadership institute alongside other female students from the U.S. At the institute, they will meet with women from the U.S. and the D.R. who are working in the fields of health care, conservation, education, and human rights. They will also visit UNESCO heritage sites, and participate in community service projects.
These STARS will change the world!
This sounds amazing! Have a wonderful time!
Travel turns you into a true citizen of the world.
What better cause than education? Also, for our young people to experience another culture, and see that there are other ways of living than our own, is invaluable. Good luck Liz! DG
